2018 Municipal Election Accessibility Plan & Report

2018 Municipal Election Accessibility Plan & Post Election Accessibility Report.

The Municipal Election Accessibility Plan addresses the specific accessibility requirements in relation to the 2018 Municipal Election in the Municipality of McDougall.

The Municipality of McDougall has made great efforts in promoting a barrier free community. In an effort to ensure that the 2018 Municipal Election is consistent with the core principles of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, this planning document was developed in advance of the election in order to identify measures to be taken and reported to Council following the election.

Section 12.1 (3) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, as amended provides that, "Within 90 days after voting day in a regular election, the clerk shall prepare a report about the identification, removal and prevention of barriers that affect electors and candidates with disabilities and shall make the report available to the public.”

The Post-Election Accessibility Report (177kb) outlines the initiatives undertaken by the Clerk during the course of the 2018 Municipal Election regarding the identification, removal, and prevention of barriers that affected electors and candidates with disabilities and how these actions impacted their voting experience.
