The building department encompasses the overseeing of the requirements of the Ontario Building Code (O.B.C.) and those of the Municipal Comprehensive Zoning By-law (pdf 7.93mb) as they relate to buildings. This covers reviewing the permissible uses and the limiting parameters for the different uses on a property as they relate to the Municipal Comprehensive Zoning By-Law once all of the pertinent information has been submitted in writing. It also reviews that minimum standards have been met prior to and for the actual construction of a project through the Ontario Building Code.

This site attempts to outline the required information to assist in preparing and submitting a full comprehensive project proposal for permit review and a guide to subsequent construction inspections as they relate to the Ontario Building Code and the Municipal Zoning By-law. The municipality is committed to ensuring that its building department is staffed with qualified, and trained, staff in order to fulfill its obligations under the Building Code Act, 1992 (Act) and Building Code. The municipalities Intern Inspector By-Law 2024-43 (pdf 307kb) is to ensure that the township has as many inspectors appointed as are necessary for the enforcement of the Act and the Building Code.
